Biography: Charitha (Char) was born and raised in Kandy - a beautiful city in central Sri Lanka, surrounded by misty mountains and lush green tea gardens. He attended a rugby-crazed school from kindergarten through high-school years, and naturally grew an undying love for the oval-ball sport. He feels that many lessons learned on the rugby pitch have stuck with him and continue to play an important role in building lasting friendships, tackling adversity, and undertaking everything with heart and purpose.
Char's dream of pursuing a degree in engineering brought him to the United States. Currently a graduate student in Electrical Engineering, he has cultivated his breadth of engineering experience by engaging in community projects and industrial internships. He aspires to combine his passion for engineering with social development, and serve to improve lives in the developing world by connecting people to cheaper, sustainable, and smarter technologies that we often take for granted here.
Char is very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of ICSP and be able to share his culture with the Portland State community. He is also excited to learn about countries and cultures from students coming from all parts of the world.
