Biography: I was born in Muscat, Oman’s port capital, and its largest city. Oman is located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. Historically Oman had great geographical importance as a trading hub in the Persian Gulf region and the Indian ocean.
Growing up my family and I would travel a lot during my school breaks, as I grew older I realized that I wanted to study abroad, to prepare myself for this I applied to an English language school in England and spent 6 weeks with students from different parts of the world. In our free time, we would always discuss our cultures, religions, and beliefs. Being the only Arab in my class I had the opportunity to talk about Oman, The Middle East, and Islamic culture. It ignited a passion in me for educating others about my culture and learning about theirs. After graduating high school I decided to continue my education outside of Oman and I moved to Portland in late 2017.
I came to PSU not only to pursue a degree in criminology but to also get involved with organizations that can help me introduce people to my history and culture in new, innovative ways through events, panels, presentations, concerts, plays, short films, and many more.
That is why I decided to join the ICSP to share my experiences and culture, to learn more about others.
