Biography: I was born in Vietnam, a country in Southeast Asia. My family values education above all else; therefore, when I was six, we moved to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) so that I could have better education. HCMC (or “Sai Gon") is one of the largest and busiest cities in the country, and I consider that place my home.
Before coming to Portland, I frequently traveled to neighboring countries as a professional and I loved learning their cultures and languages. To broaden my knowledge about the world, I chose the United States to be my next stop. I came here in March 2021 and it has been a great journey filled with new experiences and great people.
The International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) offers me a great chance to learn more about cultures including my own. It also helps acknowledge the diversity of PSU’s community, especially during this sensitive time when hate crimes against people of different races are on the rise. I am excited to meet people from different places, learn about their countries and tell them about my beautiful and friendly Vietnam.
